Day 3

Now that the rain is over and it is light out, we see the lake.  It’s huge (that’s what she said) and beautiful.  Lake Marion.  We make a note to come back some day.  240 miles to our final destination.  We forget that it is Saturday and stop at the local Cracker Barrel.  The wait is 20 mins, but we really have no choice if we want to eat.  While waiting we decide to buy Cracker Barrel stock.  Lots of collagable people here.  We definitely need to make Cathy a new collage.

Uneventful ride to Bryn Mawr Ocean Resort - our new home for the next month.  It is a gated community - we need a card to open the gate - who would’ve thought.  Michael drove the last few hours, but of course on entering the “resort” we change places so that I can back into our site which we have heard is very tight.  Once there, Michael calls me and we use our phones as walkie-talkies so we are not screaming at each other.  The nice guy across the way says this is tough and he will spot me in front.  I am successful - that is to say I did not hit anything and was close to straight in the site.  The guy across the way tells me he is impressed - and that he hauls boats for a living.  I’m feeling pretty good about my trailer skills.  The other neighbors come out to watch.  This is entertainment (in addition to the Saturday pancake breakfast that we saw signs for on the way in).   It is a little overcast, but we love that our site is about 50 ft from the dune walk onto the dog friendly beach.  `

Of course, the three of us have to check out the beach before we test our marriage  (set up).  This is a lot like sailing on land.  No problems and we are still married.  I did fail to mention, though, that when I picked the trailer up from Cranbury, I did not raise that jack, pulled out with it down, bent the 4” metal shaft which dug into the ground.  Luckily, Joe came to the rescue and used his sawsall to cut the jack so that I could drive it home.  I was pretty upset about it, but Joe said that he had done this twice with his trailer and that everyone does it at least once.  I was not consoled, thinking that we may have to postpone our trip.  After a 4 hour trip the next morning to/from Colonial Airstream in Lakewood where they replaced said jack for $400, I was able to tell Michael about my debacle and that we did not have to postpone the trip.  He just shook his head and laughed (after thinking that what I had to tell him was a health related issue).
Overall, we are happy with our site.  It’s small and close to neighbors, but it was the only one available last March when I reserved it.  I will walk around the campground (resort) and look for a better one to reserve for next year.

Dinner and Winn-Dixie to stock the shelves (shelf) and frig.  Of course, ice for the cooler to keep the wine cold and for drinks.  Unlike our home and beach frig, we had to go easy on the condiments.  Just the basics - ketchup and BBQ sauce.
