So, we started our 2nd long trip on 2/3/22 along with Sunny and Manny who are champion travelers and are loving their time in and out of the Airstream.

They make themselves right at home.  Sunny enjoys taking up as much room as she can.  Now you know why we had to sell the 25' and buy the 28'.

I have been a little behind in keeping track of what we've been up to, but time to start to catch up.  We left home on 2/3/22 to drive to Ashland, VA in the pouring rain and 15-20 mph winds.  Not a lot of fun while towing 6000 lbs.  Most memorable part of the ride was the Cracker Barrel lunch stop - once again our favorite stop due to great RV spaces.  I love checking out their dessert menus and figure that Dr Now finds his 600lb patients in Cracker Barrels.

2/4/22 - On the road to Kinston, NC to stop and have dinner at the Chef & the Farmer, the restaurant opened by Vivian Howard, the chef on one of Michael's favorite cooking shows.  Unfortunately, overrated and a big disappointment, but as always we did have some memorable moments in Kinston.  The CSS Neuse, an old Civil War iron ship was on display in the middle of town with it's very own cornerstone.

Irony is abundant in the land of the War of Northern Aggression.

Juxtaposing our experience in town was our campground experience and the host of our campground, Paul.  We had to go look for him to tell him we had arrived - there was no gate or office at the entrance to check in and pay our $20.  We found him and his buddy, Bob, setting up a tent in one of the campsites for a homeless guy who was in town to try to find a job.  He and Bob explained that they were trying to make it as warm and comfortable as possible.  Paul then instructed us to pick a site and that he would find us later or the next day to collect our money.  We chose a site right on the banks of the Neuse River.  Paul also told us to relax, enjoy the park and not to rush out the next day since there were not a lot of folks coming in.  We have to remember that we are in the South and time does move more slowly, even today.
