Day 2

400 miles to drive today to Palmetto Shores RV Resort in Santee, SC (disobeying the 330 rule already). Supposed to be lakeside, so we are curious.

Good idea, Michael!  He decides to put the infamous (story for another time) hot water heater plug in now so that when we arrive in SC, we can just start it up.  He is happy that I made him bring his hat (that I made for him).

First stop is breakfast so no one is hangry.  Bob Evans sounds good - and it is in a large shopping center which means parking for the trailer (not an easy feat - we are about 45 ft long, end to end).  We are happy to see that there is ample parking in the Target lot near Bob Evans.

Very skeptical.... Haven’t been to a Bob Evans in ages.  Now, I feel bad.  Great breakfast, great coffee.  No one is hangry anymore.  On to SC.

We are finding that a gallon of gas doesn’t go very far and we are hoping that Pam will get the electric truck (any of them) into the marketplace soon as that she will also get the charging network expanded to meet our needs.

Lunch time....We find Barley and Burger which looks like an interesting lunch stop with food for all.  Unfortunately when we drive up to it, it is located in a small strip mall where parking just the truck would be difficult.  Luckily, there is a Cracker Barrel around the corner which promises parking for Rvs.  We had heard that is one of the few places you can stop and be guaranteed of parking with an RV.  Sure enough, there is parking. And, woods behind it for a walk with Manny that is not on the highway.
During lunch in Cracker Barrel, the large guy in the table next to us came over and in a deep, very Southern drawl said, “I hope y’all are enjoying your lunch as munch as me and my wife enjoyed ours.”  “Are y’all from around here?”  It was obvious to him that we were not and we told him so.  Southern hospitality?  We ran into his wife in the store that you must walk thru to get into and out of Cracker Barrel.  Who knew?  I’d never been to one before.  His wife:

I decide to shop in Cracker Barrel and try to fit in.
Not sure it’s working even though I left my “trailer earrings” at home.

We don’t drive far down the road before we find what we believe to be our Cracker Barrel friend and his wife’s house on the side of 95.
Oh, and it’s raining - pouring!  We aren't too alarmed since the first 3 of 4 times we used the trailer we set up in the pouring rain.  We are getting good at it.

To be continued.....
